Yanik Silver's Information Marketing Method to a 6-Figure Income Part 2

Yanik Silver's Information Marketing Method to a 6-Figure Income Part 2

Just as important as knowing what to do, there are several important things to know what NOT to do to get started making money with the Internet:
  1. Lot's of money to design a website. You can use any number of downloabable software packages to design a simple, 2 or 3 page e-commerce or company descriptive website. Or if you want to & can afford a small investment, pay to have it designed by someone who loves to do HTML coding.
I personally use GetAFreelancer.com to design almost everything I do. You can find very inexpensive but very talented programmers to design virtually anything you.
  2. Lots of time. The whole point of a website to be a 24/7 salesperson. You're looking for a great home based business, a website should be exactly that. You don't want to spend a tremendous amount of time working on the website. Remember to 'measure twice, cut once' when you plan your site out. What will you need it to do, will you need a merchant account, will it need to have a contact form etc. etc. Plan out what you need the site to do, get it designed & then make sure you emphasis to your programmer that you want it be three things: One-Low maintenance, Two-Non-complex & Third-Duplicatable. At first, you will want a website that you can test & see if the idea makes money; if not, drop it & move on. Set up a simple website, market it & if after 2-3 months its not making a dime, move on; don't spend a lot of time with it.
If you hit on an idea that begins to work, duplicate the site over & over & over but, focus on a slightly different aspect of the market. For instance, if you have a hit with a site sales light bulbs, use the same template that your designer created & focus on light bulbs for kids lamps, then one for chandeliers, one for porch lights, etc. etc. etc.
  3. Lots of free content. You're not the New York Public Library or Wikipedia.org therefore, don't feel that you need to give the world everything that's in your head. A simple, 2 page website dealing with a topic is sufficient. If, however; you really feel you need to continue to put tons of content on a site I would suggest purchasing a simple, yet extremely powerful article writing software program that I use Instant Article Wizard.
  4. Lots of advertising dollars. Many people pour tons of money down Pay Per Click holes trying to get traffic. The big two are Yahoo! & Google Adwords. Yahoo! used to get me tons of traffic but, they've grown too big for their britches as the phrase goes & I dropped them. Well written, keyword rich content & marketing where you customers are & where you competition isn't is secret to making money on the Internet. What does that mean? If you sold printer toner cartridges on your site (don't it's not worth it, but I digress...) you'd want to exchange links with sites that sell laptops, or office furniture websites not other toner cartridge websites.
Plus, you can go to Alexa.com & find sites that are related but not the same with whom you can exchange links. Join web forums like Warrior Forum to find very successful & friendly people who will help you through the learning curve.
Next time I will cover what you should sell & how this will be your ticket to making great residual or even serious full-time money.
